Both 486 and the Maltese boats
are British Power Boat 71’ 6” type vessels (known as “G” types in the former
Royal Canadian Navy) and were Motor Torpedo Boats (MTBs), small fast attack
craft used in coastal waters.
Our intent is to raise enough money to bring back MTB 486 and install her in a suitable Canadian museum. The rescued Maltese boat will be restored to
the wartime appearance of the 29th Flotilla. Then, MTB
506/Ambra would be used as a Royal Canadian Sea
Cadet, Navy League Cadet and youth organisation training vessel, and owned and
maintained by the CCFT.
